31 Days of Aldi: Prepare to Shop

Molly Becky · October 2, 2014 · Leave a Comment

I’m not the best planner. There are so many times I haven’t prepared to shop beforehand and of course, end up forgetting half the things I need. Aldi makes it super simple to prepare for your shopping trip. There are a couple ways to do this.

These days almost everybody has a smartphone. If you do you can download the free Aldi app (yep, they have an app!) for iphone and android users.

I use this app in a number of different ways. First, they have a nifty shopping list where you can add a custom item if needed. And you can send it to your email or text it to someone if you want (genius!). You can also check prices on things. I love how they show you upcoming “special buys” (which I will cover more in depth soon).

I really appreciate being able to see any new items they are carrying. And I can’t forget the store locator! There have been times when I have been on the other side of town and want to stop at Aldi. This helps me find out where the closest one is.

So, yes. I highly recommend this app when you shop at Aldi!

If you prefer you can always use the Aldi circular. Mine comes every Tuesday and I always pull it out to check out the deals they have going on for the upcoming week. Keep in mind you can find this on the app too! This helps me plan what I’m going to buy at my weekly Aldi shopping trip.

The last thing I would do is figure out the best day/time to go. For instance, I never ever ever shop at Aldi on Saturdays or Sundays. I don’t like crowds and it’s crazytown if I go on those days. I will do it if it’s really necessary. But ughhh. Too busy for my liking. I prefer to shop in the afternoon during the week but I know not everybody has this option. So just try to find the best time to go based on what you experience at your store. And remember that new prices/special buys always start on Wednesday so if you’re eyeing something you want it’s best to get there on Wednesday or Thursday.

This past summer I desperately wanted something on their special buy list but I went three days later and they were already sold out. Sad face! I will plan better next time!

I realize there are a ton of other grocery shopping apps and ways to help you save money – but these are Aldi-specific so I thought I would highlight them here before I get into details of all the yummy food!
