A Different Snacking Option with Lil’ Beanies

Gerber Lil Beanies

We recently went for a doctor’s appointment for Sawyer.  While everything checked out fine (and she’s 32 pounds of cuteness!) I mentioned that I thought something was going on with her tummy. We weren’t quite sure what it was but there definitely seems to be some digestive issues as of late.

Our doctor mentioned getting more protein and fiber in her diet. She loves fruit and veggies but we needed an easy, healthy snacking option for her.

Gerber® Lil’ Beanies™ is a nutritious baked snack that has 2 grams of protein and 1 gram of fiber per serving.

Lil’ Beanies™ is the perfect snack made from the goodness of navy beans, it has no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. Seriously, I can’t believe they are made from beans! Look at those cute dimpled fingers just grabbing away!

Gerber Lil Beanies

Sawyer tried them and loves this snack. Bonus that they are so easy to throw in a little bag for on-the-go snacking this summer.

Gerber Lil' Beanies

They come in original and white cheddar and broccoli flavors. I purchased them at Walmart in the baby food aisle.

Lil’ Beanies are lip-smacking, snacking according to Sawyer! And I’m glad to know we found a different snack option that’s fun for her!

Ridiculously Easy Asian Lettuce Wraps

Easy Asian Lettuce Wraps

This post brought to you by Manwich. The content and opinions expressed below are mine.

I’m a big fan of easy weeknight meals that fill up my family’s tummies. I’m an even bigger fan if these recipes don’t have twenty ingredients and take a really long time to make. For a working mom of three kids it just has to be easy and fast to garner a spot on my weekly menu. In fact, Manwich Monday Recipes are one of the favorite things we’ve implemented!

I’ve mentioned before that my family LOVES Manwich! sloppy joes. But I have found Manwich! to be so versatile and I often end up using it to make all kinds of recipes.

One of my favorite things are Asian lettuce wraps but most recipes have an ingredient list that is too longgggg. Ain’t nobody got time for that! So I decided to try using Manwich! Bold sauce to see if I could recreate it my own way!

The first time I tried making it I wasn’t sure how it would turn out. As usual, I used my husband and boys as my recipe tasters and what do you know – they were a huge hit all around! With only three ingredients these are a ridiculously easy meal. They are fast to make, not to mention low-carb!

Asian Lettuce Wraps

Manwich Bold variety adds that special tangy taste that makes these Asian lettuce wraps soooooo delicious. I highly recommend adding this recipe to your list. I promise you won’t regret it!

Homemade Pedialyte Popcicles for When Your Kids Get the Sickies

We recently had a round of the sickies go through our house. First, Sawyer started vomiting. Then it hit Brigham. And last, Landon got it. With low-grade fevers and a quick recovery I am thankful we were able to manage it at home.

It’s always disheartening to see your children sick. We can feel so helpless when they are in pain and we can’t take it away with the snap of our fingers! The only thing we can do is try to comfort them as best we can. And provide hugs. Lots and lots of hugs!

One of the ways we comfort our children when they can’t keep anything down is homemade pedialyte popsicles. You can easily make these at home by using pedialyte and fruit juice in an ice cube tray!

  • 12 oz of pedialyte
  • 4 oz your choice of fruit juice (we use grape)
  • Freeze in an ice cube tray with a toothpick in the middle.

But then there are times when the sickness is bad enough you need help. I always hate the realization that we need to head to the doctors but I’m thankful we have such amazing resources near us. There have been plenty of times we’ve needed Children’s Mercy Urgent Care Services due to the flu.

So how do you know when you need to seek treatment? What’s the difference between a cold and the flu?

  • Colds often build up over several days. If your child is fine one day and exhausted the next it’s probably the flu.
  • Colds can cause a low-grade fever. If your child has a fever above 101 degrees it’s probably the flu.
  • Colds cause congestion including runny noses and a wet-sounding cough. The flu can cause a hacking, dry-sounding cough so if there’s congestion it’s probably not the flu.

This winter, as many as 20 percent of Americans will get the flu. Your first line of defense is to Children’s Mercy Urgent Care Services, even if it’s late in the season!

Date Night Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #BeHealthyForEveryPartofLife #CollectiveBias

Sometimes we get it into our heads that a date night has to be expensive dinners and romantic escapades. When in reality those just can’t happen very often – especially when you’re parents!

Something like that might stretch your budget, having to pay for a night out not to mention having to pay for a babysitter.

It’s also quite possible that you and your hubby might be too exhausted at the end of the week to make it work.

This may sound like I’m being a negative nelly. But there are still ways you can and SHOULD make room for a date night at least once a month. A few simple tips will make this night just as memorable as a fancy night out on the town!

1. Pick a movie you know both of you will like. To make sure it’s a good time you want to pick something fun and light-hearted. One of our favorites is What About Bob. If you haven’t watched it you need to! It’s an oldie but a goodie!

2. Turn off the lights and burn some candles instead! Yes, candlelight sets the romantic mood. No need for a fancy restaurant!

3. Make sure the stressors of the week don’t come back to bite you during the movie! Yes, you may have a headache, feel lethargic or just plain don’t feel like yourself. Nothing like a few purse essentials to make you feel better so you can enjoy a night with you partner! Centrum Vitamints give you essential vitamins with a minty taste! Emergen-C Immune+ Chewables give you immune support. And Advil, the original round tablets providing safe, effective pain relief for over 25 years.

4. Pop some popcorn – but think about spicing it up!

Our favorite popcorn recipe is super easy! All you have to do is pop some plain microwave popcorn, brown some butter in a small skillet. Pour over the popcorn. Then sprinkle on some parmesan cheese! Easy peasy and so yummy!

And now you’re ready! Sometimes simple is best! So what kind of snacks are your favorite for movie watching? What movie would you pick to watch for a simple date night at home?
